"We the People" made a difference today.  I heard about this at a meeting last night, then at lunch today I saw it in the newspaper at the Chic-fil-A when I got back to work I sent out emails to all my friends and to the Charleston Tea Party chairman.  She sent out a call to action email... and tonight at the Berkley County Council meeting we saved the taxpayers and school children of Berkeley County 16.75 MILLION dollars... a very satisfying result for us.  If you're curious about this you can read the newspaper article here....  www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/nov/30/berkeley-might-bi...

Fun dinner with friends after the meeting... trying out a new mayonnaise treatment on my hair... thanks to Barbara's struggles with a mayo packet... more drama expected at the Berkley County Council meeting tomorrow might be fun to attend and see the fireworks :-)

Quiet day today, doing laundry and painting a little. We have a busy day ahead tomorrow, with a Jeep club ride in the morning and a Hockey game in the afternoon.

It has been a LONG dry spell of not painting anything at all… I bought Stirling Edwards book ‘Watercolor Landscapes’ and that book inspired this painting of still water. I want to start painting more… I’ve missed it.

My mother's mother we called 'Hello', see the full story on that in my Black Friday listing in 2008. She always went shopping on Black Friday, she'd pour over the ads in the paper after dinner Thanksgiving day, and usually spent some time at Rich's in downtown Atlanta. Rich's got bought up by federated dept stores (the Macy's folks) in 1975, and finally stopped being Rich's in 1991... I have fond memories of that store and those simple times. Ron and I went to Wal*Mart this afternoon to pick up a couple of things, while the parking lot was packed, there didn't seem to be that many people in the store. Maybe everyone was shopped out by the time we got there. We've got a hockey game tonight... which will be fun.

Rico is our young Scarlett Macaw, vet thinks he may be a female, we'll find out for sure in a few years... if female she'll start to lay eggs, if not... then he's a male. He's a very smart and entertaining pet, it is fun having a pet that talks...

guess Thanksgiving was on my mind today... so much so that when I did the date on my page I wrote Thursday... later on when I was ready to draw something... I saw my error... and so a silly me in a dunce cap instead.

Got new tires on my Jeep... wow sticker shock on that...tires for my car were more expensive than the HUGE super swamper off road tires for our Wrangler jeep that we take off road. No choice though.. my tires were so bad I wouldn't be able to go to Atlanta for Thanksgiving without doing something...
PS - as someone suggested... the price for 4 tires... $987.00  eek

Worked in the yard today... cut the lantana back to the ground and trimmed back my roses and a few azaleas too. Ron used the leaf blower and raked leaves and did some work on our scooters... so we're both ready to clean up and head to the hockey game now.

Janet and her TSA agents at airports need to read the Fourth Amendment...
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Rode up to Columbia on a bus with friends to see the swearing in of our state house of representatives and for the election of Bobby Harrell as speaker of the house.  Bobby is one of our representatives from the Charleston area. We attended a luncheon at the Palmetto club hosted by Speaker Harrell.  It was an experience for me to attend such an event and I'm so glad I got the opportunity to go today.

Good hockey game tonight, this time they held on and didn't run out of gas at the end of the game. The Greenville team has a new owner and new mascot/name... Greenville's hockey team used to be the Greenville Growl with a mascot that was a mean looking dog... this team is called the Greenville Warriors, they have what looks like a knight's helmet on their jerseys, since they're the closest team to us we'll play them a lot this year.

Color charts... I really like making them and looking at other peoples charts too. I'm thinking about changing some of the colors in my little Bijou box... I think I need another blue.

I got this little gem in a email this past week... had to illustrate it and tuck it in my journal for my grandchildren and great grandchildren to think about (and so they'll think their granny was very wise LOL). Family lore is that we've a drop or two of Cherokee blood... so which wolf are you feeding today?

Lame duck Congress headed by Speaker Pelsoi... brought to mind a lame duck, with Pelosi eyes, hairdo and Nancy's famous beaded necklaces... I think it kinda looks like her only nicer.

Happy Veteran's Day.. to all the people who served their country in uniform, past and present.  Prayers for the soldiers now in harms way, and thanks to all the old and young soldiers who did their duty to defend freedom.  The rest of the poem as well as the story behind the poem can be found at this website www.arlingtoncemetery.net/flanders.htm

Spooky dude, I'm not very good at people, he's ugly enough on his own... but I do think he's recognizable in this.  This fellow singlehandedly destroyed the Bank of England, Thailand, and the Czech Republic  his next target is the USA... he's going to devalue our dollar... with Bernake's help he has started the ball rolling. Hyper inflation should follow on the devaluation of the dollar... watch for higher prices on everything.

I hear a young woman that works in a cubicle on my hall clip, clopping down the hall in her high heels.  She could never sneak up on anyone, you can hear her clip, clop, clip, clop from quite a long way away.  I'm so glad that I NEVER have to wear high heels again EVER.

GOP executive committee meeting tonight.  I gave a report on what went on at the poll I worked on Tuesday.  Glenn McConnell gave a report on some activity in state government that will cost the taxpayers $200 million dollars this year and another $200 million next year... the bureaucrats in Columbia think money grows on trees just like the one in DC do.

This stingray is based on our old logo, I changed it a bit. It was a disappointing game our goalie had done so well, was holding on to a 3 - 0 shut out until the last 5 minutes of the game, when the wheels fell off the cart and the other team scored 3 goals .. the last one with 1 second left to play... and then we lost the game in sudden death overtime... A life lesson perhaps from our opponents... NEVER give up, never lose hope, it isn't over until the final buzzer sounds... the Florida Everblades richly deserved to win.

Hockey team didn't do as well tonight, lost 2 - 1 it was still a good game to watch.  We went shopping today at Target for socks and these cute sock monkey bedroom slippers caught my eye... I had to have them. My Jack Russell terriers think they are dog toys and attack them on my feet... I don't think they are going to be my slippers for long... the dogs are going to claim them.

Great opening home game, they had a bit of opening night jitters but once they settled down the team did great. We enjoy going to hockey games and are looking forward to this season.

November is our month for gray rainy days... and today fits that description perfectly. The days are getting very short on daylight, when the time changes this weekend I'll be going to work in the dark... I hate that.

I was trying to get the effect of raked sand... looks better smaller... it was easy and about the best I could manage.

My day started at 5am and ended after midnight... historic wins in the House, including our Tim Scott and Mick Mulvaney both of whom I supported.  Some of my friends did not win...Sean Pike, Lee Edwards and Jim Pratt gave it their best shot, but sadly fell short.. I can't imagine how disappointed they must be, I know how very hard they all worked.  I'm looking forward to getting some painting done now that this election is over.

A tsunami starts with a disturbance far out to sea, far beneath the surface...  on the ocean floor an earthquake, an underwater landslide occurs ... on the surface of the water for miles and miles ships at sea barely notice the tiny wave... as it nears landfall it builds to a giant wave....
If you throw a stone into a calm and still pond you can create a tiny tsunami... ripples that spiral out from the point the stone struck the water... will the American people hit Washington DC tomorrow with a giant wave or a ripple on the pond?  We shall see... very soon we shall see.
