Bye, bye November and bye, bye Hurricane season 2012... I'm so thankful we were spared a hurricane here in SC again this year.... sorry the people in NY and NJ are still suffering after Sandy hit them.
Hockey game tonight was a lot more exciting to watch than we expected, our team isn't doing well this year and we don't expect they'll improve enough to even make the play offs this year.  Won one tonight though, and it was fun.

An artist/cancer survivor named Chris Ayers, did daily drawings during his cancer recovery and published them in a book named 'The Daily Zoo', I was able to get a copy of the book at the library.  He actually has another book or two out.  I love his art work... this is my 'copy' of a cardinal painting of his.  Give his website a look, I think you'll like it.

Can you tell I'm itching to use my Christmas stamps?  But I'm making myself wait until December... then watch out.  This evening got away from me, and now it's time to feed the zoo... they are all tapping their timex watches, wondering where dinner is... the cats are especially annoyed. LOL

Week 48 for the rural sketches challenge was to draw a musical instrument.  Thought about a piano, and a guitar... but settles on a clarinet... I've alway liked the sound of a clarinet.

Rural sketchers week 47, draw your 'wash basin'... that sounds so much nicer than bathroom sink doesn't it?
One of my favorite new gadgets is the hands free soap dispenser on the right... we have one of these at every sink and really love them.  Here's cost saving tip, you can buy the large economy size hand soap and refill the soap for the machine using a plastic catsup bottle (like they have in restaurants).

Christmas Day only a month away... 2012 is slipping away faster and faster. Time to get all my Christmas jewelry and shirts out only a few weeks to wear them.  Christmas parties start in a couple of weeks...

Went to Dick's Sporting goods today to get some high topped boots/shoes.  I'm having issues with my ankles giving out, so I thought maybe high topped shoes would give me more support.  However, I have for the past 5 years had an issue with my feet (that Drs can't explain or fix) that makes it very painful to wear any shoe other than flip flops.  With winter here and at least once a week I have to go to work and wear actual shoes not flip flops I wanted some like this.  The store didn't have wide widths for women, so I came home after measuring my foot and ordered the shoes from LL Bean (no shipping).
Went to the kitchen store and got a bunch of gadgets (can opener, ceramic knives)... all shopping for me, me, me.  What is wrong with this picture?

Drawing myself knitting... did ok on my left hand because I could hold the knitting and draw with my right hand... the hard part came when trying to look at my right hand, then draw it from memory... as you can see drawing from memory is NOT something I'm very good at LOL.  This is the second pair of fingerless mittens I've made, I really like them, and believe it or not they do keep your hands warm all over.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.  It is good to have a holiday just for spending time with family and thanking God for all the blessings he has given us.

We thought we'd be so clever, and have Mexican Food for dinner, seems a whole lot of folks had the same idea, the place was PACKED!  Pre turkey dinner stuffing.
We'll do covered dish Thanksgiving dinner we'll bring the ham and pies and Ron's brother will have turkey.  They ended up staying in Charleston this year too.... so we have some family to dine with besides just the two of us.

Little blue boxes with question marks?  Flickr having issues tonight... I hate when stuff like this happens.  I want everything to work all the time.... unrealistic I know... but that's me... I know that computer programs that 'work' will continue to work, if people LEAVE THEM ALONE... when they start IMPROVING and changing is when things start going South.... argh.

Our ninth anniversary falls on Thanksgiving day this year.  We picked up our Honey Baked Ham and pies for Thanksgiving, and since Outback is right next door, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner.  I had the steak and lobster tail wood fire grilled.  I have never eaten lobster grilled like that... it was VERY good, I will definitely have that again.

Gray cold rainy day today, we did go out for lunch and to grocery shop... spend the afternoon watching Bourne movies... seen them many times but still enjoy them.
Got carried away with the water on this one... but I like it.

I'm still trying to 'break in' my new Konrad pen... it feels scratchy and the ink feed is inconsistent... I want to give this pen a fair try out, so I doodled with it a lot today... and took the opportunity to try some color mingling here too... I should have used a real brush instead of the water brush I think the blending would have worked better if I had... maybe I'll try that tomorrow.
What a difference a day can make, we played Florida again tonight... this time we won... I think this group of players is having a hard time working together as a team.  Lots of individual talent, but they don't work together yet... late in the season for them to still be so 'disconnected'.   It's very late and time for me to get this posted before midnight rolls around.

Florida scored so many short handed goals, the crowd started yelling NOOOOO when ever the referee called a penalty on them... our boys did not play well at all tonight.
My husband's high school Goose Creek (last year's state champions, and undefeated this year) won their playoff game 35 - 25 tonight, but their eligibility is being challenged in the courts... is there NOTHING people won't sue about?

Rainy, gray, cold day today... I didn't leave the house all day... so it was a shock to me when we went out to dinner how miserable it was outside.  I need to start going out at lunch, so I can get a bit of sun.
I'm thankful for my nice warm house and the electricity that lights the evenings.  I pray for the victims of Sandy, still sitting in the dark and cold up North.

This week's rural sketchers assignment, a board game.  A Scrabble board game had to be my choice, one of my favorite games of all time.  My girl friend Carol who lives in Atlanta and I now play Scrabble on our phones... it is fun, Carol is good at spelling words in more than one direction... I'm good at long words and hitting the triple letter, triple word squares... sometimes I win, sometime she wins... either way we both enjoy the game.
About this painting/drawing... what a disaster this turned out to be.  I used toothpick to apply masking fluid for the white lines... did not work very well at all... note to self.. toothpicks do not work. Used some pallet mud, with raw sienna added to create beige, but ran out of this unique mixture and had no way to reproduce it... oh well it is, what it is... and it'll have to do.

Today is Veterans Day .. I thank all the veterans past and present for their service to their country... Americas finest men and women no doubt about it.
It is also Ron Jr's birthday today, he is 39... pushing 40 HARD LOL

Ron usually falls asleep in movies, sometimes in the first 10 mins... this Bond film kept us on the edge of our seats the whole movie.  Very well done, and a new story line which was refreshing.  I'd highly recommend it.

Listening to our hockey team on the internet... they are in Kalamazoo Michigan... winning 5 to 1... why can't they play like that at HOME ;-(
I'm working on knitting myself some fingerless gloves with some waste yarn I had in my yarn stash... I have more yarn coming to make more... my hands don't like cold weather.

Sam, my half moon Conure pulled the big escape today, when I was getting his water bowl out of his cage.  He has NEVER done that before.. he spent about an hour out and cage fighting with my big Macaw... lucky for Sam the big bird didn't hurt him and I finally bribed him back into his cage with an apple slice... whew.

I believe God answers prayers, sometimes the answer is No. Sometimes the answer is that God has other plans for us, that we'll find out in his good time.  I will continue to pray for my country and for the young men and women in the military who keep the wolves at bay overseas.   I am truly blessed to open my eyes and have another day to enjoy my life here.
That is all I have to say about the outcome of the election.

Ron and I got in line at 6:30am, the polls opened promptly at 7am, by 7:19 am we were walking home.  The turnout looked good, not huge but good.
Headed out to watch the returns with friends...

Catch up sketch for rural sketchers.. an umbrella... I couldn't do anything other than a beach umbrella.
Long day today...  the time change really messes with me...  that and a faucet that is dripping and I can't get to stop... hopefully, Ron will be home soon and can fix it.

Rural sketchers week 44, fruit cut in half... I chose a Kiwi couldn't quite match the bright yellow/green color of the fruit.
Cruised the book store today and after lunch.  I love wandering in book stores even if I don't buy much more than a single magazine, I can browse for more than an hour.

Got a small box from Goulet Pens today, had to try some Noodler's Lexington Gray ink.  Since the big bottle came with a free fountain pen I got a free pen plus I got a Konrad Flex pen.  After playing with both, I must admit I really like the 'free' pen the best and used it to draw the Konrad and do all the writing on this page.  This pen doesn't 'flex' but it has a nice fine line and is very smooth to write with, I think I'm going to like this ink too.  Seems to dry waterproof fairly quickly... I like that.
Much better outcome at the hockey game tonight we won 2 to nothing... so a shut out for our 'pocket' goalie... we call him that because he's only 5' 7" in his skates... very quick and agile so he does a great job in spite of his short stature.

Got my box from Cheap Joe's today... new tubes of paint, a book on color mixing by Ann Abgott... so more journals like this one (on sale yippee)...new stuff and no time to try any of it out.
Went out to dinner with my sweetie and then to a hockey game.  It was a VERY exciting game, sadly our team lost... but it was an exciting game and went down to the last seconds.. I'm horse from yelling LOL

Popcorn...I LOVE popcorn, have some almost every day.  At my new job, everyone that walks by while I'm using the microwave to pop my corn, has to tell me the story of the person on the 4th floor who burned some popcorn, threw it in the break room trash (with other trash)... and started a trash can FIRE... which set off a fire alarm and caused the entire building to be evacuated during a rain storm... and unlike a fire drill they had to all stand out in the rain for over an hour while waiting for the fire truck to come and the firemen to put out the fire in the break room 'metal' trash can.
I've heard the story so many times now, that when people start to tell me, I say... I know,  I know... I've been making popcorn in microwaves for 40 years... and never burned any yet... not planning to burn this  either.  You have a great day.
